Your Guide to Choosing the Perfect Music School

Starting one's musical journey can be an exciting endeavor, but can also be overwhelming if you’re not sure how to go about finding the right techniques or teacher to help guide you along the way. Whether you're a budding musician or looking to refine your skills, selecting the right teacher and environment is important to your success. With a plethora of options available, finding the ideal music school or teacher can be a challenging task. In this blog post, we'll guide you through the process of choosing the perfect music school to take your musical aspirations to new heights!

Step 1: Define Your Goals

As a musician, what are your goals? Are you or your child a beginner who needs to build a solid foundation in music or are you a returning or advanced musician seeking professional training and wanting to refine your craft? Knowing your goals will help you in the search for the right music school.

At Loud & Clear, we focus on what your personal goals are and help you achieve them through our dedicated and personalized lessons. Our general music teachers are perfect for those who would like their children to explore their creative side through music. Maybe you’re looking for a voice teacher to help your child nail an audition for a musical. Look no further than our voice teachers who are professionally trained in multiple genres and can help them through performance anxiety. No matter what the goal, we are here to help guide you or your child to success.

Step 2: Take a Visit!

Choosing a music school and a teacher is not just something to settle on, but rather something to really invest in. Get to know the environment you or your child will be learning in by meeting the staff, touring the facilities, and asking questions to get to know the school better. A welcoming and encouraging atmosphere has a great impact on music education.

This is the perfect opportunity to book a trial lesson and see if the teacher and the school are the right fit for you! Loud & Clear takes pride in our trial lessons, making sure that we get to know the students and their abilities, as well as taking into account their goals as musicians.

Step 3: Price

One thing no one likes to talk about is the financials for lessons, but it is one very important step in the process of finding the right school for you or your child to learn at. Lessons don’t have to cost an arm and a leg for you to have quality lessons, but you shouldn’t be trying to find the cheapest deal. The goal is to find somewhere that offers you more than just lessons, but rather an experience and community.

Many schools offer lessons and recitals, but how often is it that you come across a music school that offers lessons, recitals, studio meet-ups, classes, and more? LCMS understands that you’re investing in your child’s enrichment but it should be more than just lessons. We want students and families to have multiple opportunities to perform and grow as musicians. We offer many of these “extras” free of charge or at a small fee. We also accept ACE Ohio, which is an Afterschool Child Enrichment program that provides funds to families who want to enroll their children in educational and enrichment programs, just like us!

Step 4: Success Stories

We all have looked at reviews online when it comes to purchasing a product, so why not do the same when researching a music school and lessons? Take note of what others have to say. Even better? Talk to current students and families! In this day and age of technology, we can just type in on Facebook a question and get tons of feedback, so ask around and see if anyone you know takes lessons at the school you’re looking into.

Over the years, Loud & Clear Music School has seen many students and we’ve had many success stories! Some teachers have had students go off to college in pursuit of a music degree, and some have had students come in to achieve their goals of learning an instrument for fun! Whatever it may be, we’ve made sure to make lasting connections with our students and their families. Read below some reviews left by our current and past students:

“Both of my kids go for lessons (one voice, one drum) and they love it. The teachers are talented and also very patient with the kids. They're also very supportive. My kids really enjoy it.”

“The staff is so positive and helpful. Scheduling adjustments have been very easy to navigate. And the instructor has been amazing at helping my son make big strides in his drumming skills. The lessons are laid back with no big stress put on the student. Overall, my experience with this school has been very positive. I would definitely recommend them to others.”

“I’ve been with Mike and Loud and Clear since the very beginning and can’t recommend them enough. I’ve learned so much over the years from a fantastic school full of friendly and knowledgeable people. 11/10”

In conclusion, when it comes to finding the right school and teacher for you, it all boils down to trusting your gut. These steps can all play into helping you find the right place for you, but it’s all a personal choice for your personal musical journey. No matter what, trust your instincts. We want to spread the joy and creativity that music brings and see more musicians in the world.
