Maria Jacobs is a nationally recognized Christian and Jazz recording artist and also a licensed Music educator. She is the Vocal jazz professor at Kent State University, where she earned her second Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with a minor in Education, graduating Cum Laude. Her first degree is from The Ohio State University in Journalism.
Maria has released 10 solo albums and 17 singles. She has charted on the Groove Jazz and Smooth Jazz Holiday charts. Her most recent release, a Christian album entitled Perfect is Your Will, is currently in the top 10 on the Christian radio charts. Her ninth album, a jazz album recorded live, and entitled “Back at the Bop Stop,” was accepted for Grammy review in the best Jazz Vocal album category in 2024.
Maria is also a national voice artist and you can find her on IMDb as an actress and as the theme song composer to an award winning, independent film and television show. She performs in and around the greater Cleveland and Akron area, New York, and Pittsburgh.
She also lived and performed in Los Angeles for 12 years where she recorded and performed with Alphonso Johnson and the late Ndugu Chancellor (Weather Report), and Tommy Coster (Eminem, Santana) to name a few. She has been a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra chorus at Severance Hall and also with The Jazz Heritage Orchestra, featuring Music Director Damien Sneed for Wynton Marsalis’ Abyssinian Mass.
